Executive & Business Coaching
I got started in business coaching because I wanted to be a better anthropologist. I thought that if I could learn how to ask better questions and be a better listener I would be a better ethnographer; it would help me better understand people and cultures. I was right. It did help.
What I didn’t know was that my anthropology background would also help my coaching. The same skills that I use to understand individuals involved with Chinese corporate culture or Thai middle-class religious behaviors I can use to understand professionals in other challenging life negotiations. With 20+ years of work experience in China and Southeast Asia using the foundational ideas of anthropology (empathy and a desire to understand others) I realized that I started my coaching “career” decades ago!
Individual Coaching Sessions
Coaching is a partnership, a collaborative process to inspire personal and professional growth from within. Based on trust and awareness, coaching sessions help participants be more conscious of their own thoughts. A coach doesn’t “have the answers,” rather a coach asks questions to provoke, challenge, and motivate.
Coaching can be booked in sets of 6 or 12 one-hour sessions and can be facilitated in-person or online.
Team Coaching Sessions
Coaching teams address issues of trust and accountability, communications and diversity, roles and goals, and how individuals work within team structures. Team coaching sessions create a safe environment to have the necessary discussions that promote collective growth and comradery.
Coaching can be booked in conjunction with cultural audits or as stand-alone 3-month blocks. Team coaching works best on-site.
